How to bring your A-game

I made it my mission to be as fit and healthy as I can be. Regular workouts, healthy foods, and daily meditations. Sounds easy right?

 

 

 

Not really.. when I just started this journey, I already came up with excuses. Often on my way home from work I was telling myself “my legs hurt”, “I’m so tired”, “perhaps I should go to the gym tomorrow”! Yawn..

 

Something needed to change and I was wondering how I’d coach others if they’d be dealing with the same challenges.

 

1) Setting anchors

 

I started by listening to my favorite music (chill lounge) which reminded me of happy times at a beach bar in a place called Scheveningen, back home in the Netherlands.

Before I changed into my workout clothes, I turned up the volume and started moving. Next thing I knew, I was running 5 miles on the treadmill, and felt amazing afterwards.

 

2) Reward yourself

 

Once the results start to show, you’ll feel more confident and ready to take it to the next level. You could for example save $10 for each pound that you loose or for any other positive change that you notice. When you reach your goal, reward yourself because you deserve it!

 

3) Become a mentor

 

A great way to keep your momentum going is to share your experience and knowledge with others who are starting their journey into a healthier lifestyle. Sharing your lessons learned and motivating others will give you an extra boost to continue.

 

Do I sometimes have weak moments? Absolutely! When that happens I contact a close friend who keeps me accountable. Make sure you surround yourself with like-minded individuals to keep the positive vibe going.

 

If you can afford a personal trainer, awesome! But keep in mind there are also great apps on the market that can show you a range of exercises with amazing results.
